Newborn Photography Tips: The Best Age to Capture Your Baby's Newborn Session
Do you want to capture your baby's first photos? If so, you may be wondering what the best age is to do so. Some newborn photographers say that newborn photos should be taken within the first few days of the baby's life, while others say that waiting until the baby is a little older is better.
So, what's the right answer?
Here at Oh My Darling Photography, we believe the best age for newborn photos is actually between five and fourteen days old. This is because, at this age, babies are still very sleepy and can be easily posed. Of course, every baby is different. Some may be more alert and awake at five days old, while others may not be.
What is a newborn photo shoot?
A newborn session is a special photo shoot that celebrates your new arrival and the growth of your family! It's an incredibly special time in your life and deserves to be documented. Especially since as soon as your baby is born, they are growing rapidly!
During a newborn session, I will capture all of the details of your new baby. From their cute little toes to their itty bitty nose, I will photograph everything! We can also capture some family photos, as well as some individual portraits of you with your new bundle of joy.
Why should a newborn photo shoot be so early?
The newborn stage is an incredibly short period of time and by the time babies are 3-4 weeks old they start to be more alert and awake making it harder to capture those sweet sleepy, curled-up images that moms love. All of those tiny details that you love about your new baby.
What happens if I've missed that 2 week window?
If you've missed the two-week window, don't worry! We can still capture beautiful newborn styled images of your baby up to 6 weeks old. We just might have to be a little more creative in our posing and use props to help keep baby comfortable and sleepy.
